The Restaurant
Tables numbers to accommodate individual requirements, large or small. Booking is highly recommended as The Red House is popular with diners. Families are very welcome with high chairs available (please mention at time of booking).
There is a separate dining area in the snug (garden room) which works well for groups and/or private functions. There is also table service in our raised section for those who prefer a more intimate space or those who wish to sit by the fire.
Our Story
Set in 3 acre grounds and situated on the outskirts of Longstowe, in rural Cambridgeshire, The Red House is an old coaching inn built in 1799..
On the 31st October 2017 the Red House reopened its doors as a traditional English restaurant. The restoration of the building took its current owner, Stephen, a couple of years to finish but he has transformed this forgotten gem back into a vibrant and homely place where he looks forward to welcoming you.
The Menu
Our simple menu is seasonal and changes to suit produce availability. Our menus can be viewed here. We have a passion for the traditional with a modern twist sourcing only the freshest quality local produce. To maintain our high standards we limit the number of covers for each sitting. We highly recommend booking as during busy periods we can not always provide walk in guests with food.
At the bar
There are tables and bar stools available for guests who wish to visit for a casual drink. Additionally there are comfy tub chairs for you to relax in. Hot drinks include freshly ground coffee’s, speciality teas and hot chocolate. The bar is well stocked with a wide variety of wines, real ales, lagers and soft drinks.
Outside
Our spacious patio area can seat over 100 people and its open all year round. Our lawned areas can accommodate vast numbers so make an excellent venue for large outdoor events and offer lovely views of open countryside where you can relax by a large wildlife pond.
